Testing & Inspection

Since 5 December 1998, the law has stipulated that work equipment must be periodically inspected by an expert.

In principle, this obligation to inspect applies to all work equipment, the safety level of which has deteriorated due to wear and tear or damage. Employers are responsible for the safety of their staff when working with racking systems.

When considering whether work equipment is subject to inspection, an assessment must always be made of the safety risks that can arise due to wear and tear. Products such as warehouse racking, which can cause enormous safety risks due to collisions, incorrect loading, etc., fall under the inspection obligation. This obligation applies not for storage racks lower than 3 metres. The inspection frequency is usually once a year.

In view of the ever-increasing technical diversity of the various brands, it goes without saying that inspections must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
